Has anyone heard of this?
I see Min's on something low carb, and this is similar.
You have an attack phase which can last 1 to 5 days and that's totally carb free.
Then you introduce carbs (veg only) for three days only, the rest of the days are back to carb free.

I've been on it for a few weeks, I am losing but getting sick of eggs and steak!

Funnily enough, I bought the book a couple of weeks ago but have not read it yet. Off on holiday tomorrow so I may take it with me and have a good look through it.

I have just bought the book today. I am very tempted to give it a go. Poppy do you mind me asking for more details of how you're getting on? X

I recommend l-carnitine supplements. Am losing weight minimal effort here.

Have never heard of the diet you speak of. Reference?

It's big in France, Flora. Smile

UK website here: http://www.dukandiet.co.uk/ and the book's available on Amazon UK.

And an article in the Wail:

Hmmm. Interesting. Not sure it is something I could stick to. The blurb says you can eat anything you want, but you can't really. I prefer the 'little of what you fancy every now and then' types of regimes!

Seriously though, I've started doing running and walking again, and using 1000mg of l-carnitine supplements a day and have lost nearly 9lbs in the last 10 weeks. I am watching what I eat to a certain extent, but still have chips and chocolate when I want them.

Both the Wail article and the website seem heavily promotional, that it makes me overly suspicious! Does it cost a lot to sign up online? The cost is hidden behind the "Find your true weight" selling tool (clearly designed to get your email address).

sounds like you're doing fine on your own, Flora.

Lebel, I've lost a stone since I started (about a month) and this is the only diet that's lasted for me. The hardest part was getting over seeing low fat bacon and eggs for breakfast as healthy (against cereal)!

Also without carbs, which makes you crave more carbs, my appetite has waned and my IBS has cleared up.

I've found a low carb website which sells chocolate with a small carb content, so I'm still getting my chocolate fix but again, it's not something I miss now. And believe me, I was a huge chocolate addict.

Spot on, Poppy... I'd never realised how addictive carbs are. Shocked But it only took a couple of days without 'bad' carbs for the craving to pass and nowadays it just wouldn't occur to me to buy/cook/eat them other than in vegetable form.

Poppy, that's brilliant Very Happy

No chocolate cravings? Really? I seriously cannot go the day, atm Embarassed Embarassed

I talked to my doctor about it this morning, and he has said I should go for it, if I think it will work Smile

How do you get on with the oatbran?

I love oatbran. I add cinnamon to it, or a drop of vanilla add a sprinkle of sweetener and eat it as porridge. Lovely.

I was a choccie addict, and I have found an Atkins version of it in Superdrug but I can only manage a couple of squares because I find it too much.

All my clothes are baggy, but I am feeling tired lately. Might be the weather, might be a virus or could be the diet. I'm unsure as yet, but am reluctant to eat carbs.

I have a few carbs though (you find them in milk, salad and veggies) so I am getting some, otherwise they are banned from my plate. Shocked

Well I'm on day 8, I did a 4 day attack and am on a PP day of cruise today Smile

I like the galettes LOL! I haven't tried the porridge yet. Gotta get some granulated sweetener.

I don't crave any carbs really, but still want choccie atm Confused I haven't had a cup of tea in 8 days as I cannot stick it with sweetener! I don't mind it in coffee tho' ...

I find muller yoghurts brilliant, vanilla and toffee. And I think I have single-handledly doubled sainsburys sales of low fat cottage cheese!!

There's a couple of facebook groups I have joined for weigh-ins, tips, advice etc too.

Aaaaaand, I have lost 3.6kg in one week. Shocked Very Happy

Well done!

I drink green tea. It doesn't seem to need sugar or sweetner.
The Mullers are a life saver!

Thank You Very Happy

Last time I drank green tea, it tasted like boiled up fag ends. I think I let it stew for too long Laughing Might give it a go Very Happy

Have tried some mint green tea and it is bearable. I see what you mean about not needing the sweetener Smile

I have lost 5.2kg in less than 3 weeks Shocked Very Happy I feel brilliant and although at times I have been peckish, it has been great to know I can eat something! x

How's it going ? And can you drink coffee ??
I'm thinking of giving it a go as I'm stagnating at minus 4 kilos (haven't done much either really).
Oh and what about champagne, is that allowed ???? LOL !

Well, 6kg in 4 weeks and I still feel great Very Happy

I had a bit of a slip up this weekend as I went to a party and the buffet was CARBcity!!! That and I had a couple of vodka tonics Wink

You can have coffee, with skimmed milk and sweetener if you need to. I have gone from 3-4 coffees or teas a day to just one in the morning!
You are encouraged to drink at least 1.5l water a day, walk 20 mins a day and eat oatbran but sorry, no alcohol for at least the first two stages ... until you get to your goal weight!

I think to really understand it, you'd need to buy the book and read it. I still go back and re-read sections of it - you forget bits Smile

Thanks Lebel. Another friend has raved about it too, so I reckon I shall start after my holiday (or perhaps during my holiday : I'm spending a while in the US, protein galore !!!)

It is quite easy to follow once you are ready for it. No weighing, measuring, counting etc Smile
My advice would be start after your holiday and maybe just start cutting down while you're away Smile That's what I'd do anyhow Very Happy

Apparently, there are some differences (very slight) between the french and english versions of the diet. There are a couple of groups on facebook, which I have joined. It helps having someone else in the same boat!

Good Luck with it Very Happy xx
